The DRBC will be holding a public meeting in Deposit about a water permit XTO has applied for that was tabled in a hearing in NJ last week due to over whelming anti gas people speaking up even though they approved 2 other permits that were for more water (with a concrete company and a golf course). If XTO can get approval it would be a huge win for natural gas through out the state just because it is the DRBC approving drilling and on the other hand if they turn down the permit it will hurt all of us but esp people east of Windsor as they would most likely not get leased at all. We need as many people to sign up to speak on behalf of them getting approval so spread the word to as many people as possible.

April 14 Meeting Features Alternative Fracking Method

From Tioga County Landowners: No water. No harmful chemicals. Come to the Owego Apalachin Middle School Auditorium on April 14 to learn about a fracturing process using gelled liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to extract natural gas from shale.

Environmental concerns from both landowners and others abound in New York State about methods of fracturing which use water and chemicals. While many of these concerns are being addressed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, GASFRAC Energy Services of Texas offers this alternative method using LPG without water or waste stream. The Chief Technology Officer from GASFRAC will provide a presentation of this fracturing technology advancement. This important educational meeting will start at 6:30 pm. at the school located on Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego.

The unique properties of the LPG fracturing process result in significant savings in material handling expenses and fracture cleanup, while also offering increased well productivity. The LPG returns to a gaseous state as it returns to the surface mixing with the natural gas. The method reduces transportation and cleanup costs and eliminates disposal and waste costs.

GASFRAC Energy did its first multi-stage fracture treatment on a horizontal well in April 2008 with most of its work being performed in Canada and Texas. They have worked in a wide variety of geology, including both NG and Oil in black shale, with over 700 well treatments to their credit. The company became publicly traded with an IPO on August 12, 2010.
